Privacy policy

This page explains exactly what data we collect when you use the Operation Monarch website, why we collect it, how we store it, and what rights you have over it. Plain English, no dark patterns.

Who we are

Operation Monarch ("OPM", "we", "us") is an independent, fan-run community DayZ server. We are not affiliated with Bohemia Interactive a.s. This site is operated by the OPM admin team. For questions about your data, contact us via our Discord at discord.gg/4fBzunrHWx.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to run the site and the in-game store:

  • Discord account data — when you sign in with Discord, we receive your Discord ID, username, avatar URL, and email. We do NOT see your Discord password.
  • Steam account data — when you link Steam, we receive your Steam64 ID, persona name, and avatar URL via Steam OpenID. We do NOT see your Steam password or any of your library/inventory data.
  • Order data — for purchases, we store the products ordered, the amount paid, and the Stripe payment ID for fulfilment and refund tracking. Card numbers and full payment details are handled by Stripe and never touch our servers.
  • In-game stats — kills, deaths, playtime, and other public gameplay stats are pulled from CFTools for the leaderboard. This data is tied to your Steam64 ID and is publicly visible in DayZ regardless of whether you use this website.
  • Server logs — standard web server access logs (IP, user agent, request path, timestamp) kept for 30 days for security and abuse mitigation.
  • Website usage analytics — aggregated traffic and navigation data via Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID configured on our site).
  • UX analytics — behaviour insights (for example heatmaps or session replay, depending on how we configure the tool) via Contentsquare UX Analytics, including sites managed through the Hotjar product family.
  • Staff recruitment — when you apply for an open role, we store your answers, linked Discord/Steam identifiers, and email on file for review by authorised team members only.

What we don't collect

  • No Facebook / Meta advertising pixel for ad targeting or remarketing.
  • No third-party advertising cookies for selling ad space.
  • No payment card data — Stripe handles 100% of payment processing.
  • No location data beyond what your IP address reveals at the country level.

Why we collect it

  • Account linking — so we know which Discord user owns which Steam account, so we can deliver in-game items to the right player.
  • Order fulfilment — to deliver the skins you bought and to handle refund requests.
  • Anti-cheat & moderation — to ban repeat offenders, investigate reports, and keep the server fair.
  • Website improvement — to understand how visitors use our pages (traffic, funnels, technical issues) and to improve layout and content.
  • Staff recruitment — to evaluate applicants for volunteer staff and contributor roles posted on our careers page.

Who we share it with

We use a handful of trusted processors. Each only receives the minimum data needed:

  • Stripe — payment processing. Stripe receives your email and billing details. See stripe.com/privacy.
  • Discord — when an admin pings you about a delivered order in your private ticket thread.
  • CFTools Cloud — for live server status, leaderboards, and ban management.
  • Hostinger — our hosting provider. They host the server but do not access your data.
  • Google — Google Analytics 4 processes usage data on our behalf. See policies.google.com/privacy and Google Analytics privacy documentation.
  • Contentsquare — UX Analytics (including Hotjar-branded experiences) may process interaction data such as pages viewed, clicks, scrolls, device/browser information, and session recordings where enabled. See contentsquare.com/privacy-center.

We never sell your data. We never share it with advertisers. If we are ever legally compelled to disclose data (e.g. court order), we will notify you unless legally prohibited from doing so.

How long we keep it

  • Account & order data — for as long as you have an account, plus 7 years for tax/accounting compliance after deletion.
  • Server access logs — 30 days, then automatically purged.
  • In-game stats — until the next server wipe (typically 12–16 weeks).

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Show you all data we hold on you (data access request)
  • Correct any inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and all associated personal data
  • Export your data in a machine-readable format

To exercise any of these rights, ping the admin team in Discord or contact us via the contact page. We aim to respond within 14 days.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication (session tokens) and CSRF protection. We also load analytics and UX tools (Google Analytics 4 and Contentsquare) that may set their own cookies or use similar storage to recognise browsers and measure usage. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to refuse non-essential cookies; you can also block or clear cookies in your browser settings.

Children

OPM is intended for players aged 16 and older — DayZ itself is rated 18 (PEGI) / Mature 17+ (ESRB). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided data, contact us and we will delete it immediately.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Material changes will be announced in our Discord. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
